Germany's Largest Solar Power Base Built, Started Power Generation

Former Air Force base in Germany, one is said to be the world's largest solar power plant, in the June 22 officially completed, started power generation.

The base covers an area of solar energy equivalent to 200 football pitches so much. Has been officially completed and began a partial use of electricity. Official said, when in 2009 the solar power generation sites fully operational, it can provide 40 megawatts of power grid electricity supply. According to the assembly groups, now in the initial stage, this investment 130 million euros (201 million U.S. dollars) of solar energy plant generating capacity reached 24 megawatts.

The plant located in the eastern part of Leipzig, it used cutting-edge film science and technology. The entire field about the use of 550,000 piece　films, including the 350,000　piece has been fully installed. Produced by solar photovoltaic panels will be converted into the DC and AC power grid in the importation. One year after the completion of the solar power stations, will be able to produce a calculated design of the generating capacity.

Germany is the country's eastern region of solar energy pioneer. The world's 50 largest solar energy are three places near the city of Leipzig is located.
